I’m very pleased to offer this remarkable opportunity:
FOUR never used Early Electric pendants!
This listing is for four fixtures.
THE BACK STORY:
Recently, while attending a rural auction, I came across box filled to the top with carefully packed…something. I started gently pulling out the wrapped items, one after another, and began unwrapping. I was stunned to discover a cache of never-used Early Electric components including porcelain sockets, porcelain canopies, glass shades, brass fitters, and even lengths of cloth-covered wiring. All in mint, never used condition. And this listing reflects some of this discovery.
Fixtures such as these were used from the late 1890s through to the 1930s, and were normally placed in utility areas of a home, or in simple commercial applications. You would not, for example, have seen such fixtures in the main hall of a bank. These fixtures were inexpensive in their day and thus not highly regarded. Consequently, they were casually discarded over the decades. Today, their rarity has hugely inflated their value. As well, their innate simplicity is now much appreciated.
This listing is for four fixtures but it is really for two pairs of fixtures. The fixtures are identical save the very tops of the porcelain sockets. Two sockets have rounded tops; the other two have flatter tops (see last two images). This might be obvious if you had the different sockets right next to each other but if, say, you had one pair hanging over your kitchen island, and the other pair was used over your sink, and back hall, I doubt the subtle difference would be noticed.
The sockets are again, porcelain. Even the turn-keys are porcelain! The ceiling canopies are porcelain! The green cloth wire is fabulous and in mint, unused condition. The shades are white glass.
The length of the fixtures is easily adjusted by pulling up the cloth cord through the ceiling canopy. The current length is 29-1/2-inches long.
This set is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
DETAILS: The fixture accepts standard base 60W bulbs (not included).
COLOR: See above.
SIZE: See above. As well, the shades are 6-inches wide and with 2-1/4-inch fitters.
- The only issue is that the shades have minute chips along their bottom edge. This appears a manufacturing byproduct (the bottom edges are cut rather than molded).
- The porcelain sockets and wiring are vintage and in excellent condition.
- The porcelain canopies have subtle manufacturing irregularities.
SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE!
