I’m very pleased to offer this striking copper plated 1920s 2-bulb ceiling fixture!
THE BACK STORY:
The fixture was originally painted ivory. This finish was really dirty so I soaked it for a while. In drying the fixture with a cloth the paint peeled off the body, STAT, but not on the two bobeches and finial. A second surprise followed when I realized that the steel body was actually copper-plated. Why? Well, as I loved the copper, I decided to leave the deliciously curious result alone: copper and ivory.
2-bulb, oval fixtures like this were ubiquitous in bedrooms and hallways all through the 1910s, 1920s, and 1930s, and used in all style houses.
I have a matching fixture!
The sockets and wiring are new. I retained the distinctive original enameled socket rings.
This fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
DETAILS: The fixture accepts standard base 60W bulbs (not included). Clear Edison-style LED bulbs would look well.
COLOR: See above.
SIZE: The fixture hangs down about 4-inches and is 12 x 7-inches wide.
The copper-plating looks really good (see pictures) but is obviously vintage with minor bits of loss and minor tonal irregularity.
The porcelain sockets and wiring are new.
The ivory paint is original and in good vintage condition.
SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE!
