Description
I’m very pleased to offer this striking copper plated 1920s 2-bulb ceiling fixture!
THE BACK STORY:
The fixture was originally painted ivory. This finish was really dirty so I soaked it for a while. In drying the fixture with a cloth the paint peeled off the body, STAT, but not on the two bobeches and finial. A second surprise followed when I realized that the steel body was actually copper-plated. Why? Well, as I loved the copper, I decided to leave the deliciously curious result alone: copper and ivory.
2-bulb, oval fixtures like this were ubiquitous in bedrooms and hallways all through the 1910s, 1920s, and 1930s, and used in all style houses.
