Description
I’m very pleased to offer this 1920s pan-style 5-candle chandelier by the incomparable Lightolier Company!
ABOUT LIGHTOLIER
Beginning in the 1920s, and for many decades thereafter, the Lightolier Company (extant today) made some of the very finest fixtures. Their designs were always simply dazzling, and the quality was the very very very best. When you restore vintage lights such as I do these aspects are so obvious they tend to jump out. It’s always a particular pleasure restoring a Lightolier!
When the fixture was made it would have been about twice the price of comparable fixtures by other lighting companies. This premium was for the quality, design, and the Lightolier name. Kinda like the difference between a Chevy and a Rolls-Royce. This premium still applies today.
The fixture retains its distinctive original finish: “Corona gold”. Gorgeous.
I love how the candles leap into the air. When I look at the fixture I think of ballet dancers on point!
Note also the distinctive, really long tassels under the candles, and the original chain.
I love the richly detailed cast brass arms.
All the wiring is new, and the exposed wire is cloth covered like the original. Nice.
This fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
DETAILS:
The fixture accepts standard base 60W bulbs (not included). Clear Edison-style LED bulbs would look well.
The ceiling canopy may be a replacement.
COLOR: See above.
SIZE: The fixture hangs down about 35-inches and is 17-1/2-inches wide. I can remove up to 7-1/2-inches of chain; I can add chain.
CONDITION:
The sockets are original (and in fine shape) with new wiring and paper insulators.
The candle covers are new, and off-white like the originals.
The finish is in good vintage condition. There is subtle overall wear, subtle tonal irregularities, and small bits of loss.
SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE!
