Description
I’m very pleased to offer this striking 1920s surface-mounted ceiling light by Moe-Bridges!
The Moe-Bridges Company was established in 1915, in Milwaukee, WI. In 1943, the company was renamed The Lighthouse, and then Visa Lighting in 1963. Today, Visa Lighting is still in Milwaukee.
When I found the fixture is was CAKED with bad white paint jobs (see last two images). My heart ached for it. Could I possibly restore it? Taking it home, I used a very sharp X-ACTO knife and picked at some of the overpaint. It came off! And, to my great thrill, was the hidden original polychrome!
After much work (much!) the polychrome was fully revealed: a pale beige with subtle pink and blue accents!
I was also able to retain and restore the porcelain socket rings!
Sadly, the original finial was lost but I found one similar in shape.
The fixture is scaled for a foyer, hall, bathroom, or small bedroom.
The sockets and wiring are new.
The body is aluminum.
This fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
DETAILS: The fixture accepts standard base 60W bulbs (not included). Clear Edison-style LED bulbs would look well.
COLOR: See above.
SIZE: The fixture hangs down about 3-1/2-inches (minus bulbs) and is 9-1/2-inches wide.
CONDITION:
I love writing this: there’s no damage.
The porcelain sockets and wiring are new. The porcelain enameled sockets rings are, as noted, original.
The original polychrome required some touching-up.
SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE!
