1920s Spanish Revival dog head Virden chandelier

Out of stock

I’m very pleased to offer this astonishing 1920s dog head chandelier by Virden!

The John C. Virden Company was Canadian-based, at 19 Curity Ave in Toronto. They also had a US presence at 6103 Longfellow Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio.

The fixture is from Virden’s Winchester line.

Richly decorated with impressively elaborate designs, I love how one can see through the fixture!

The original polychrome is striking, and intact. The main color is a deep gold, with accents of green, blue, and red. Fabulous!

Note how each arm ends with a dog’s head!

All the wiring is new, and the vertical wire is cloth-covered like the original. Nice.

This fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!

DETAILS: The fixture accepts standard base 60W bulbs (not included).
COLOR: See above.
SIZE: The fixture hangs down about 38-inches and is 18-inches wide. I can remove up to 7-1/2-inches of chain; I can add chain.
The fixture has been repaired. This is not at all obvious. I only noticed after taking the fixture apart for cleaning and rewiring.
Several sockets are original (and in fine shape) with new wiring and paper insulators. Several sockets are new.
The candle covers are new.
The original chain was corroded (this is common). The new chain precisely matches the original in terms of scale and shape.
The polychrome is original and in excellent condition.
SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE!
