I’m very pleased to offer this dashing 1930s pendant with a huge glass shade!
The shade is a whopping 20-inches wide! It’s marked WESTINGHOUSE, and Made in the USA. Remember that far, far away time?
Unlighted, the shade is a bright white. Lighted, it unexpectedly transforms into a pale custard color. Gorgeous.
The fixture accepts one 500W Mogul-base bulb (a dimmer is suggested). So, beautiful and brilliant!
The thick glass shade diffuses the brilliant bulb, and a lot of light is thrown towards the ceiling – all resulting in a very pleasant quality of light.
Please also note the distinctive and original ceiling canopy. Note, too, how the concentric rings on the canopy are matched by same on the shade. Cool.
Fixtures such as this were originally used in commercial settings. Today, they are much valued for residential use, and ideal for a room that needs a lot of quality light like, say, your kitchen.
The fixture is 28-long. I can remove up to 6-inches from the stem.
The stem incorporates a swivel joint. So, if you bonk the shade the whole fixture will move rather than the shade breaking. It is hoped! The fact that the shade is undamaged after 80 years would attest to this. (The fixture can also be installed in a room with a very shallow vaulted ceiling.)
Wholly restored and with new wiring, this fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
