I’m very pleased to offer this incredible 1930s chrome chandelier by the famous Gill Glass!
Gill Glass & Fixture Company was located on Amber Street in Philadelphia, and occupied most of the block between East Tioga and East Venango Streets. The factory backed up against rail lines, as was common, and there would have almost certainly been a rail spur leading directly to Gill loading docks. The Gill buildings are extant, although they look a lot less attractive than they did as pictured, proudly, in Gill catalogs. The immediate area around the factory was all housing (and still is), and it can be assumed that many of these homeowners worked for Gill – an easy commute.
The chandelier is from Gill’s Melrose line, and features a gorgeous glass sphere above the stem.
The five shades have a subtle, original mottled finish.
The ceiling canopy and bottom bowl have a deep blue finish. Each also features a delicate filigree band.
With new wiring, this fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
DETAILS: The fixture accepts standard base 60W bulbs (not included). You can use LED bulbs.
COLOR: Blue. Chrome. Gold.
SIZE: The fixture hangs down about 22-1/2-inches and is 20-inches wide. I can remove 3-1/2-inches of chain; I can add chain.
