I’m very pleased to offer this amazing circa-1950 ceiling fixture by the incomparable Lightolier Company!
Beginning in the 1920s, and for many decades thereafter, the Lightolier Company (extant today of course) made some of the very finest fixtures. Their designs were always simply dazzling, and the quality was the very very very best. When you restore vintage lights such as I do, these aspects are so obvious they tend to jump out. It’s always a particular pleasure restoring a Lightolier!

The slumped-glass shade is wonderfully curvaceous, and with striking pink and blue flowers and leaves. Gorgeous!
In the center is a thick glass diffuser lens.
The metal components are mostly aluminum.
There is one socket, which accepts a single long-neck 200W bulb.
The fixture would have been first offered in the late 1940s.
I envision the fixture in a home in, say, Florida or Hawaii.
When the fixture was made it would have been about twice the price of comparable fixtures by other lighting companies. This premium was for the quality, design, and the Lightolier name. Kinda like the difference between a Chevy and a Rolls-Royce. This premium still applies today.
Wholly restored and with new wiring, this fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
DETAILS: The fixture accepts standard base long-necked 200W bulb.
COLOR: See above.
SIZE: The fixture hangs down about 11-inches and the shade is an impressive 19-1/2-inches wide.
- I love writing this: the shade has no chips or cracks. There are minute manufacturing irregularities.
- The socket is original (and in fine shape) with new wiring.
- The aluminum ceiling mount has some scuffing. This is hard to see with the fixture eight or more feet in the air.
SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE!
