ABOUT LIGHTOLIER
Beginning in the 1920s, and for many decades thereafter, the Lightolier Company (extant today of course) made some of the very finest fixtures. Their designs were always simply dazzling, and the quality was the very very very best. When you restore vintage lights such as I do, these aspects are so obvious they tend to jump out. It’s always a particular pleasure restoring a Lightolier!

At a glance, this chandelier might appear similar to the inexpensive, made-in-Spain brass chandeliers which were wildly popular in the 1960s and 1970s. But, this chandelier is a world away. In its day this was an expensive, high-quality chandelier. It still is.

The whole is brass, with exquisite detailing, and sinuous lines. The chandelier is also large – a whopping 26-inches wide.

When I purchased the fixture it was bereft of glass save the stunning glass spear in the center. I had no idea of exactly what was missing, so patiently waited, for years, until I found the Holy Grail: an original catalog image. Imagine my excitement when this was discovered, and the missing visual information revealed. Thus, I was able to exactly replicate the lost bling: a wonderful combination of classic pear-shaped drops, unusual diamond-shaped drops, and glittering, distinctive small drops on each bobeche. Wow.

The chandelier retains its original chain, and ceiling canopy.

So, if you have been looking for a truly stunning example of 1970s glamour, then this Lightolier may be ideal.

This fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
