1950s Colonial-style chandelier by Framburg
1 in stock
I’m very pleased to offer this gorgeous Mid-century chandelier by Framburg!
We tend to think of Mid-century lighting as Atomic, Sputnik, and all daringly modern in styling. But the era was actually quite traditional, too, as exemplified by this brass and glass chandelier.
Framburg did high-quality lighting, and in its day this was an expensive fixture.
The whole is brass, and this retains its original protective lacquer.
Of course, the glory of the chandelier is the cut-glass shades. Wow. That they are original, and all in situ, is amazing.
In the catalog image the observant will note a different ceiling canopy than the one shown in this listing. However, the canopy on the chandelier listed here is shown just below the catalog chandelier. It was normal for companies to mix canopies.
Scale-wise, the chandelier (at 21-inches wide) is ideal for an average- to larger-sized, say, dining room.
Wholly restored and with new wiring, this fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
DETAILS: The fixture accepts standard base 60W bulbs.
COLOR: See above.
SIZE: See above. As well, the fixture hangs down 31-inches. I can remove up to 9-inches of chain; I can add chain.
- The only issue is minor. Several shades have very small chips to their upper edge. These just do not register with the chandelier hanging (I only noticed when washing the shades).
- The sockets are original (and in fine shape) with new wiring.
- The candle covers are original.
- The brass has, as noted, its original protective lacquer. There are a few small spots where air has gotten behind the lacquer and caused the brass to patina.
