Description
I’m very pleased to offer this extraordinary, incredible, and breathtaking 1950s 6-arm chandelier by the incomparable Lightolier Company!
ABOUT LIGHTOLIER
Beginning in the 1920s, and for many decades thereafter, the Lightolier Company (extant today of course) made some of the very finest fixtures. Their designs were always simply dazzling, and the quality was the very very very best. When you restore vintage lights such as I do, these aspects are so obvious they tend to jump out. It’s always a particular pleasure restoring a Lightolier!

To me, finding such a fixture is a thrilling event. For a long time I’d known that such a chandelier existed but had never found one nor even seen one. So, you may imagine my excitement upon this discovery. And, in all-original, undamaged condition? And, with the dazzling glass sphere finial in situ, and the original chain and ceiling canopy? Yep, a big wow moment.
The glass is called champagne glass due to its distinctive, elegant golden hue.
The chandelier was made in Germany.
There are six highly distinctive glass spears which curvaceously fly into the air. Incredible.
The chandelier is large – a whopping 28-inches wide.
I show the chandelier with shades (not included) but these are slightly under-scaled (they are 4-inches high). You can, of course, have no shades (see last two images).
So, if you have been looking for the perfect chandelier to hang over, say, your T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings dining table, then this knock-out may be ideal.
PLEASE NOTE:
The only way to assure the safe delivery of the chandelier is for it to be dismantled. It is easy to assemble, and I will forward instructions and be available via telephone.
Wholly restored and with new wiring, this fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
DETAILS:
- The fixture accepts standard base 60W bulbs.
- The cardboard shades are not included. They are 4-inches high, but I would suggest shades at least 5-inches in height.
COLOR: See above.
SIZE: See above. As well, the fixture hangs down 29-inches. I can remove up to about 6-inches of chain; I can add chain.
CONDITION:
- I love writing this: there’s no damage. Amazing.
- The sockets are original (and in fine shape) with new wiring and paper insulators. The vertical wire is cloth-covered like the original.
- The candle covers are new.
