I’m very pleased to offer this striking pair of 1930s foyer/hall ceiling fixtures by the famous Chase Brass Company!
Chase Brass & Copper, a 138-year-old company (extant today) only produced lighting during the 1930s and very early 1940s. Their fixtures (and house wares) are highly collectable and always stunning. There are a spate of books on Chase:
Art Deco Chrome, the Chase Era; 1988
Chase Catalogs: 1934 and 1935; 1999
Chase Complete: Deco Specialties of the Chase Brass and Copper Co.; 1999
1930’s Lighting: Deco and Traditional by Chase; 2000
Chase Era: 1933 and 1942 Catalogs of the Chase Brass and Copper Co.; 2001
One of the impressive aspects of this pair of fixtures is their scale. Similar fixtures are normally 1/3 smaller. The pair listed here are an impressive 12-inches high overall, and the ceiling mounts are 9-inches wide.
Also, I love the dashing horizontal lines, and ring of spheres. So very 1930s.
The delicate filigree edge above the shade is also wonderful.
And to have a matched set? Wow!
The metal fittings are brass, and the glass shade is frosted white.
Wholly restored and with new wiring, this set is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
DETAILS: Each fixture accepts one standard base 60W bulb.
COLOR: See above.
SIZE: See above.
- I love writing this: there’s no damage.
- The sockets are original (and in fine shape) with new wiring and paper insulators.
- The glass shades have subtle manufacturing irregularities.
