I’m very pleased to offer this impressive 1920s strap-style pendant!
This type fixture is called strap-style because it’s made primarily from flat metal bars, like belt straps. What I love about such fixtures is how curvaceous they are. Just lovely to look at. The style was very popular in the 1920s and 1930s, and used in a variety of home styles including bungalows, Arts & Crafts, Spanish-Revival, Colonial-Revival, and Four-squares.
The pendant is not actually restored yet. I will restore the burnished gold finish (it will look like it does in the images, but nicer). Also, I will fully rewire, and with lovely new cloth-covered wiring. The sockets will also receive new paper insulators. All this will take up to two weeks after payment is received.
The five pear-shaped glass drops at the bottom seem to be original. Additional glass drops hung from the top, but these were long gone. As such, I used vintage amber drops from my private stash (fixtures such as this normally had pear-shaped drops at the bottom, and tear-shaped drops up higher).
Please also note the delicious leaf cluster around each sockets.
The whole fixture abounds with lovely details.
This fixture will be shipped wholly restored and with new wiring, ready to hang, and with all the mounting hardware needed!
- Sadly, the period-correct, hand-painted bulbs are not included. Happily, I will let you know where to get them.
- The fixture accepts five standard base 60W bulbs.
COLOR: See above.
SIZE: The fixture hangs down 20-1/2-inches and is almost 18-inches wide. It cannot be shorter or longer.
- I love writing this: there’s no damage.
- The sockets are original (and in fine shape). They will have new wiring and paper insulators.
SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE!
